‘The absolute happiest occasion of my life would be being reunited with my mother, father and grandmother, all of whom have passed away. The only way I can visit them now is in my dreams – so all I need is a magic dream dress,’ wrote Greer Townshend.
The Ulysses butterfly, the Curlew, and the Southern Cross star constellation adorn the dress that harks back to Greer’s grandmother teaching her to sew, going hiking with her father, and her mother telling Greer ‘she would come back to see me as a butterfly’.
Srivilasa has used gold to reference the Thai tradition of using acknowledging the afterlife: ‘gold is magic. Everything to do with afterlife or another realm is gold. It has a special power.’
