Drawn from the Rockhampton Museum of Art Collection existing work of Srivilasa and his recent works from the H̄mī bupp̄hā or Flower Bear series, this vitrine installation focuses on the artist’s dedication and devotion to spreading a sense of hope through art and cuteness.
This collection of relief plates and figurative sculptures display Srivilasa’s skill in both porcelain and earthenware forming and decoration. Employing Thai/Australian cross-cultural themes, each artwork intends to disarm viewers through their character-filled faces and teddy bear-like bodies to give a message of the benefits of cultural diversity and a love for nature.
