GALLERY REGISTRAR

 

Hours: full-time or part-time, flexible days (Saturdays a must)

N.Smith Gallery is hiring a Registrar to join its team. Candidates should be detail-orientated and highly organized along with the ability to multi-task, handle a high level of volume and complexity, with attention to time-sensitivity. Must be a talented communicator, who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

 

Basic duties include but not limited to:
The Registrar is responsible for the accession, condition reporting, database management, and transport of art consigned to the gallery. The candidate will maintain shipping records, condition reports and installation instructions while updating the records in the gallery’s database. This is an opportunity to work on N.Smith Gallery exhibitions and local and international art fairs.

 

Required qualifications for this role:
– Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of the organisation.
– The ability to handle a high level of volume and complexity with speed.
– Detail orientation along with the ability to multitask.
– Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.

 

Desirable qualifications for this role:

– Experience in a museum, gallery, or similar role.

– Knowledge including but not limited to strong art supplier contacts, packing and crating, modes of transport, import and export compliance.

– Experience packing and shipping of art domestically and internationally.

– Experience managing and overseeing loans to and from Museums and other institutions.
– Experience performing and reading condition reports.

– Experience installing, lighting, and moving art.

– Postgrad arts Admin / Master of Curatorship / Museum and Heritage Studies

 

Position Type:
Full-Time or part-time, depending on successful candidate. Saturdays a must.
